This charming Ashland home had a lot going on - a big wraparound porch, dormers up top, multiple stories on each side, and windows that clearly hadn't been touched in a while. Cobwebs packed into the frames, grime built up along the seals, and tracks that were just plain dirty. Not the kind of thing a quick wipe with a paper towel fixes.
When we got into it, the buildup was real. Years of spider activity had left heavy webbing in the corners of several frames, and the tracks had collected enough debris that the windows weren't sliding cleanly. That's the stuff most people never think about until someone points it out - and once you see it, you can't unsee it.
We went through every window inside and out. Glass, frames, seals, screens, and tracks - all of it. Cleaning the screens separately makes a difference you actually notice because dirty screens filter the light coming through even after the glass is clean. Same idea with the tracks and seals - they hold onto grime and it ends up back on your windows faster if you skip them.
The result is a house that just feels better inside. More light, cleaner views, and nothing collecting in the corners. On a home this size with this many windows spread across multiple elevations, doing it right takes time - but that's the only way to actually make it last.
